Our managers for Fire prevention
Location and fitting
The areas in which airflow is greatest are the hall and the stairwell. In the event of a fire, therefore, these are the areas where the smoke spreads first. It is therefore quite logical to fit smoke detectors at these locations. It is recommended to fit at least one detector per floor and at least one in the hallway that leads to the bedrooms.
- It is important to check that your fire detectors work regularly by pressing the test button. This will also allow you to become familiar with what the alarm sounds like when it actually sounds.
- Also make sure to replace the batteries regularly. Most smoke detectors make a noise so that you know when the battery getting low.
- Don’t neglect to remove dust from your devices.
- Finally, smoke detectors should be replaced about every ten years.
